Warkworth Castle, Northumberland
The English Heritage - another lot that won't let dogs in - castle at Warkworth in Northumberland. It's a fine, imposing, 12th century (mediaeval) ruin sitting on a hilltop directly overlooking the pretty town of Warkworth next to a small inlet from the North Sea. You can get round the town itself in about half an hour if you don't linger in any of the rather pleasant watering holes.
