Storage boat, Holy Island
Boats past their sail-by date in Northumberland are often cut in half and upended on the beach to be used as storage sheds or perhaps even accommodation sometimes. Covered in several layers of canvas to prevent weather ingress, they make attractive features in the landscape, but are not easy to photograph sympathetically. This one was evidently quite a large boat at one time, with a hull section somewhat reminiscent of the Viking longships that invaded this shoreline in the 9th century AD.
