Britain gallery: In a sunbeam

Like photographing food or fashion, wildlife or the sky at night, there are skills involved in

specialist branches of photography which take time and enthusiasm to develop. Having spent

most of my working life as a lighting-cameraman in film and television, the lack of such 'stills'

skills was never going to trouble me too much when it was all I could do to keep myself

employed in my niche in the stuttering British film industry. So in retirement I have now

starting to look at still-life work. I don't regard myself as being any good at it yet, to be

honest, but I do quite like this shot, a montage of flower species (don't ask me what they

are), shot in daylight but through strong coloured filters. Hopefully I'll be able to develop this

theme a little and perhaps produce a series of such images. But don't hold your breath - I'm

spending all my time at the moment trying to finish this website!
