framing suggestion:
Berlin's Mitte district seems to have become the centre of town in terms of
entertainment - cinemas, bars, restaurants, clubs, etc with a thriving and youthful
nighttime scene. This hand-painted poster was down an otherwise quiet cul-de-sac: just
two bars, a clothes emporium, a second-hand camera shop, and wall-to-wall graffiti. I
suppose I'd seen too many films of Berlin between the wars, most notably 'Cabaret',
from Christopher Isherwood's original story, and I was hoping to find some vestige of
that dangerously stimulating milieu. But it wasn't to be - perhaps I just wasn't there long
enough to seek it out - Maybe Next Time...!
