Before I die

In Varna, on Bulgaria's Black Sea coast. It hadn't changed much since I was first

there, in the mid-1990s, apart from the nightmarish development of the coast for

the packaged holiday trade. On the outskirts of town, new apartment blocks

everywhere, - seemingly quite fashionable but with (to me) excessive use of

coloured rendering, and in the centre of town, next to the wide and extensive

pedestrianised walkway that goes all the way down to the Sea Gardens, a huge

building site with this hoarding on the outside. It seemed most locals just wanted to

escape Varna before they died here. I have framed the shot to exclude that part

of the wall that was unsuitable for family viewing, ie. those entries that were in

English, but without the expletives. I didn't have any asterisks with me.
