Tree in quarry. This abandoned slate quarry in Llanberis, North Wales, displays an

extraordinary range of colours in the rock walls and a deep cyan in the lake that now sits

in the middle, used as a training environment for divers. But growth is inevitably

returning to this once-barren workplace, as in this young tree rooted in the quarry floor.

This is one image that worked better as a square crop than anything else I tried to do

with the original frame.
