A purse-seiner at anchor off Bartlett Cove, the research and Ranger base for Glacier Bay in SE Alaska. There used to be over a dozen major glaciers whose termini calved ice-bergs into the Bay, but now due to global warming, they have all receded into their respective U-shaped valleys and the surrounding hills, and are unlikely ever again to turn Glacier Bay into the ice-choked inlet from the North Pacific that I saw in 1977 with the London University Hydrobiological Expedition (below).
