Among the city-wide tumble of junk, antiques and bric-a-brac that is the

annual 'Braderie' in Lille, were these stacked chairs making what I felt were

an interesting composition of the 'thirds' kind. They were still there when

we left, two days later, with our own car full of junk, antiques and

bric-a-brac: two cheap paintings, a spokeshave, a chair, several door

number plates, some sewing apparatus and a pile of linen table napkins.

And more fond memories of the Lille 'Braderie.'
