Slate wall

This odd building was in a small village near Montpellier in southern France. It probably

needs a little work in a photo editing programme (I'll attend to it - watch this space) to

make it a more interesting picture, but I hadn't seen a slate-walled building before, so a

quick 'snap' secured the memory (which is what 99.99% of all photographs ever taken are

for). I arrived at the square format by the failure of any other framing device to actually

work satisfactorily. Yet I still find it a slightly unsettling composition: no centre of interest,

once you've got over the fact of it being a slate wall, no obvious path for the eye to travel.

no interesting play of light. So why is it here? - well, I quite like it, despite everything!
