Also in Barga, Tuscany, is the beautiful home of the artist Bruno Cordati (d. 1979), who
stipulated in his will that his works were not to be sold, and that his house should become a
gallery for his paintings and sculptures. Curated now by his son, the collection is well worth
a visit as one of the highlights of Barga, a peaceful moment with the work of an artist
virtually unknown outside Italy. His canvases evoke a sombre sense of quiet sorrow, of
the working man and woman, their living environment and their lot in life. It's free too.
