We never saw these famous nets in action, but the principal was clear: a big

triangular net is lowered by A-frame into the water, left for a while (how long?) and

then raised with a cantilever action and the fish unloaded. Forget casting off from

the shore, this net's already at sea!, and probably big enough to catch the odd

shark.

Situated here on the tip of Cochin (Kochi) Island, and on the opposite island's

shore, the pisces don't stand much of a chance of not showing up on a fish stall in

Ernakulam, the commercial centre of Old Cochin.
