The world's best aerial display team, the
Red Arrows, at a show off the front at
Southend-on-Sea. Everybody seemed to
be anticipating their arrival from
seaward, but with the connivance of the
PA announcer apparently 'not sure'
where they were coming from, their
arrival from behind (ie. across the town)
in tight formation at about 200ft, fast,
and then into a vertical 'starburst' was a
masterstroke that made the crowd
cheer. The next twenty minutes was a
kaleidoscope of formation flying and
individual BAE Hawk T1s in a display that
really took your breath away. The
pictures I have included in this gallery are
my own favourites, but they can't do
justice to the sheer joy of the moment,
the exquisite perfection of the ballet.
