Off the North Norfolk coast, visible from Hunstanton beach, this windfarm looked as if
it was still being built. On a calm day with nice lighting conditions and a 600mm lens, it's
a hand-held shot at 1/500th second f/6.3, ISO 100. It's difficult to judge distance, but
it looked like the windmills were five miles away, just beyond the horizon, but I could
be wrong. In Glacier Bay, Alaska, I was asked by a passing canoeist har far I thought
it was to a glacier we could both see in the distance. I estimated about 3 miles and
off he paddled. It was 11 miles away.
A lot of people hate these windmills, especially on land. I don't know why - I think
they're elegant and graceful, and it's comforting to know that we're getting 'free'
energy from them. Oh well, takes all sorts.
