Spanish village

Whilst waiting outside the corner shop for the Mrs. to be served a huge bag of sun-dried

tomatoes for about 4 Euros - the price of a tiny jar of them in the UK - I noticed this

pleasing array of highlight, mid-tone and shadow textures (two of each) on these walls. It

may not be much of a composition (it lacks another interest point, like a cat casually

strolling up the lane, for instance), but there wasn't one. The urge to mask one in may

become irresistable one day, but until then I like it the way it is. Cartier-Bresson would've

waited for something to happen, but at mid-day, in Spain, with no-one about? He would

probably still have waited. And therein lies the greatness of the man, one of my

photographic heroes.
