Britain
framing suggestion:
This and the following image were both taken on an early morning drive across the fens in
Cambridgeshire on a cold, but not frosty, day in February. For once there was no traffic
to stop me skidding to a halt, and I wasn't in a hurry to get somewhere. As a
cameraman, I used to have to get up about 3:00 am to get to the equipment hire place
in London, check all the gear on board, ususally drive to collect my soundman, Bill, and
then on to the venue to set up in time for the first shots of the day, which could be 200
miles away. I enjoyed those early starts - the roads were clear, you saw the dawn come
up, you were never late, and were invariably there in time for the essential bacon
sandwiches.
Well, I'd never been to the Fens before. I used to think that we had big skies in Suffolk
(not actually as flat as most people think who've not beeen there). But the Fens are as
flat as a pancake, and the skies correspondingly bigger.
