On a bitter day in January, my best mate
and I thought it would be 'fun' to revisit
the site where, as students of applied
photography, we made our first and only
attempt at astronomical photography one
night with a 5x4 field camera, a few beers,
and a Leonids meteor shower to look
forward to. We caught just one, across the
corner of one plate, amid the concentric
swirl of stars, and that was it. On the way
back, oil spilled out of my BSA drive case from a split gasket and ruined my only decent
pair of shoes.
Win Green is near Shaftesbury, on the border either in Wiltshire or Dorset, I can never
remember which, and on the particular day I took this shot I really didn't care much
either, it was so cold. We got to the OS triangulation point at the top then headed
straight back for a warming grog in the nearest hostelry, somewhere in Wiltshire. Or
Dorset.
