'Before and After' image (Volterra streetlight)
This image didn't require much in the way of post-production development, as the faded walls of this Volterra (Tuscany) side-street were almost the same tone all over. Half-shutting your eyes is a useful trick for determining if there's enough contrast in your shot before you take it, but I took this one anyway and turned it into a Victorian 'calotype' print. Plus some diffusion, a reduction of about 80% of the colour information, and an added vignette to imitate the drop-off of an old 1890's Cooke-Taylor lens...
