'Before and After' image (Snape bench)
In its raw state, this simple, overcast picture was a little too dull (often the case on the East Coast), and needed lengthy creative treatment to render it interesting. Part of that process was retaining detail in the highlight area whilst creating shadows under the bench in order to subtly create the look of a sunny day. The endless reeds in this area allowed the bench to be in the bottom half of the picture and the reeds to recede into the distance.
